Spain’s Best Beaches

It may be autumn, but it’s still only September, meaning the weather in Spain is still very much holiday perfect. With the heat of the summer months abating and the peak tourist season over, September may in fact be the perfect time for a getaway for a spot of sun on the beaches of Spain. These are some of our favorite beaches from around Spain that we thing are best suited to autumnal lazing around.

Las Canteras (in Les Palmas de Granaria)

Located in Les Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain’s 9th largest city, the 2.8km stretch of beach is located within the city giving it an urban feel. This beach is great for everything from family fun to surfing.


La Concha (in San Sebastian)

In the Basque region’s San Sebastian lies the beautiful La Concha beach. Located on a curving bay, the scenery is perfect. Bundled with the cultural and culinary attractions of one of the most unique parts of Spain, a trip to this beach will be an adventure you can’t forget.


Tamariu (on the Costa Brava)

One of the calmest and safest beaches around, the Tamariu is not only stunningly beautiful, but also one of the most sheltered beaches in Spain. It has even been awarded the international Blue Flag certificate for water quality and overall cleanliness. It’s a perfect place to go for a relaxing and peaceful getaway, and an ideal beach to bring the kids.


Es Trenc (in Majorca)

Relatively uninterrupted by hordes of tourists, Es Trenc is a local favorite. It boasts fine white sand, tranquility, as well as crystal clear blue water.


Mundaka (in the Basque region)

This beach is a favorite of surfers. Although by no means a beach meant for surfing beginners, it is nevertheless a fantastic surfing spot if you are intermediate or pro level. Beware, though, as it can get pretty crowded on the weekends.
